Holli Barrett
Holli is a small-town Nebraskan native and a University of Nebraska –Lincoln alum, having graduated with a BA/double major in Spanish and International Studies. From a young age she has had a fascination and interest in international culture and travel. She specifically recalls her first international exposure as a young child when her family hosted two foreign cast members from an international entertainment group: their guests’ exotic clothing, customs and foreign language left a lasting impression with Holli and planted a seed for future travel and cultural exchange.
She participated in student exchange programs in Venezuela and Costa Rica, is bilingual English-Spanish, and has taught English as a second language to children and adults while traveling. Holli settled permanently in Costa Rica in 2007, joined Intercultura in Heredia in 2015, working in Study Abroad Student Services and HR, and as of 2025 is the International Programs Coordinator, in charge of Groups, Study Abroad and Academic Immersion Programs for adults and teens. Her favorite aspect of working at Intercultura is being in a multilingual/multicultural environment on a daily basis, helping students adjust to the new culture, developing international programs for foreign and local students, and enhancing organizational growth. In her free time, Holli enjoys traveling, cooking, yoga, and photography, and spending family time with her “Tico” husband and two children.
